Greeter Leader: Vicky Kuo
A greeter is often the 1st person that people see when they enter the church. Greeters hand out hymnbooks, program sheets, welcome cards, and collect the tithes and offering. But most important, greeters are the friendly faces of the church
who can bring SMILES to people’s faces and make everyone feel welcome. Greeters welcome guests into the house of the Lord in fulfilling their Scriptural watchword of “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares”. (Hebrews 13:2). We meet 5:00 to 5:30 PM in Coleman Hall. Those who are willing to serve and receive training are welcome to join in this vital ministry.
I was born in the Philippines but have been in Taiwan for more than 20 years. I met a friend who also comes from the Philippines who introduced me to GBC and asked me to attend the morning service. We noticed that GBC has an English service which was better suited to mine and my husband’s needs, therefore we chose to begin attending the English worship services. Because of being blessed by the comfort and peace we received from the Lord, my husband and I decided that the time had come to be baptized. I can hardly believe how much the Lord has blessed our lives since we were baptized nineteen years ago!
When the previous evening usher leader (Arlin Wang) asked me to begin serving as an usher, deep inside my heart I felt a joy that I had never felt before. Serving the Lord is the greatest adventure in the world, and because I had had previous experience assisting other evening ushers with their duties at my previous church, I told her that I would love to serve. After 1 year of serving as an evening usher, our leader asked me to consider becoming the next usher leader. She said that I was qualified to do this because of my growth, maturity and faithful attendance as a longtime member of GBC. At first I told her that I was very happy to remain as an usher and that I didn’t really want to become the usher leader; however she continued to remind me of my suitability for this position and requested I pray about it. After two more weeks of consideration, I decided to accept the responsibility of being the evening usher leader. This pleased the previous leader, and this decision also pleased me because I would receive more joy in serving the Lord alongside the other ushers who are like family. We even have our own group chat on LINE and go on retreats together!
All of this to say that God is faithful, yesterday, today and tomorrow; you may not see a way, but God does. Situations may look impossible, but God can do the impossible. Stay in peace; God’s got you in the palm of his hand.
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
