Dear
Bobbie...
Now you have a source for ideas on how to deal
with your personal spiritual growth or problems with relationships.
We now have ¡§Dear Bobbie¡¦! She will help you find biblical
principles for your needs.
Even though we don't have "Ann Landers," or
"Dear Abby" we have a Christian woman of experience. She is ready to
give you fresh ideas and suggest resources to help you.
While she will not use your real name, it will
help her to respond more completely if you tell her who you are. Add
an ¡§alias¡¨ (fake name) which she will use in her response. While she
may not get back to you immediately, she will study your question
and give you the best answer she can.
Let ¡§Dear
Bobbie¡¨
help you. Check the GBC website daily. Ladies, Now we have ¡§Dear
Bobbie.¡¨

Dear Bobbie,
I plan to retire from my work in 5 years. After my retirement, i
plan to join a ministry abroad for at least a year (don't know how
and what yet though). My question is what preparation work do I need
before I can join a ministry abroad? Thank you very much for your
time.
In Christ,
Thankful Heart
Dear
Thankful Heart,
How exciting it is that God is leading you in this direction! As
part of your preparation, I urge you to spend time each day reading
God's Word,
meditating on it, memorizing it, praying over it, asking the
Holy Spirit
to reveal the message God has for you.
As you talk to God, ask Him to reveal to you what you need to be
doing and where you are to serve. Look to see where God is working
and where the needs are and if this is something that He wants you
to be involved in. Talk to church leaders to find out what
leadership needs are in the church and how you can help meet those
needs.
I would also urge you to be a participant in a
Sunday school
Bible study class. If God leads you, I suggest you
become a teacher of a
Bible study class. More
than likely, the
Sunday School
Director will offer a
Bible study
teacher's course this fall. I suggest you participate in that study.
In preparation for the
Franklin Graham Festival
the last of October and the first of November, the Billy Graham
Evangelistic Association is offering the Christian Life and Witness
Course. I highly recommend you take the course.
If you have missed any of these sessions, I hope you will take the
make-up sessions. I also recommend that you become involved as a
counselor.
Our church has several
mission trips
each year. I pray that God will lead you to become a mission team
member. You will receive many blessings as you make friends with
people in other countries. You will see how God is working in their
lives. But, also, your eyes will see the millions of people who are
walking in darkness
and do not know Jesus, and that will break your heart.
Whichever sending organization you choose to become a part of, they
will also have a training session(s).
God bless you in the exciting adventure ahead of you.
Bobbie
